I posted this cause i have worked in all those places and i have seen how european travellers easily forget they are in countries with high crime rate, specially if you are a woman. The girl of the picture is catherine shaw and she was raped and murdured in guatemala.

Charles Massey

Cuz this happens

Ofcourse they shouldnt, they should be in the kitchen

Firstly, not all places in the world are safe, secondly you need to do some research before going to a country you know nothing about, know what will you find there and specially be careful because be honest, the world is not a completely safe place. I'm from Ecuador. I have girl friends who have come here and liked the country nothing happened to them. PLEASE DO NOT GENERALISE YOUR OPINION. THERE ARE GREAT PLACES IN LATIN AMERICAN THAT WILL DEFINITELY TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY.

Sanam Shaikh

As a woman traveling solo myself I really appreciate this post. I'd never go on a trip without doing my research first. Plus : add parts of China...

Because she will wear a hat.? Maybe she has a receding hairline. It's ok. Calm down

Bobby Degina

The problem arent the countries but that tourists have to respect the fact that they are in a country they dont know even if they think they do(travel agencies dont have the knowledge). For example if a latin american woman which isnt looking like shit travels to a western city but goes to a wrong neighbourhood at the wrong time i would say she is gonna get raped too.

Sharon Harripersadh

It's dangerous everywhere... just take shityy sweden where i libe that is suppose to be "safe"... all places on earth is shit atm couse of human

Sudeep Yadav

Well tbh you shouldnt visit south america at all if you like living and not getting your shit robbed

Sherri Bravo

It will be easier to say Central America, but I don’t understand why you are saying that

Shelley Cain

I'd say it's a one off. Last time I saw this happened in Guatemala it was another tourist who committed the crime. In general tourists are respected in these countries because the police will actually work hard to protect the tourism industry.

Michele Daniels

sad to say, Sometimes it has to do with the tourist as well...

Tonya Allen

i wouldnt let my gf travel anywhere on her own.
